Palm Fatty Acid Distillate (PFAD)

Palm Fatty Acid Distillate (PFAD)

Palm Fatty Acid Distillate (PFAD) is a  tan to dark brown, waxy solid or semi-solid derived entirely from 100% natural vegetable oils. Thanks to its high free fatty acid content, it delivers exceptional feedstock benefits for oleochemical, biodiesel, and soap production. This versatile, vegetable-based distillate is trusted across a wide range of industries—from soap and detergent manufacturing to biodiesel, oleochemicals, and industrial applications.

PFAD is widely used as a key raw material in the production of fatty acids, fatty alcohols, and esters. It serves as a primary feedstock for biodiesel manufacturing and is a valuable component in soap noodles and detergent formulations. Additionally, PFAD is used in the production of lubricants, coatings, and specialty chemicals, making it an indispensable ingredient across multiple sectors.

Our PFAD is 100% vegetable origin, Kosher certified, and produced in compliance with strict international quality standards.

Production Process

Palm Fatty Acid Distillate (PFAD) is a secondary output of the palm oil refining process. It is procured during the refinement and fractionation of crude palm oil to generate palm oil, palm olein, and other palm derivatives. PFAD predominantly comprises free fatty acids (FFAs) along with other trace constituents that are eliminated from the oil throughout the refining stages.

Composition

PFAD – predominantly free fatty acids (70–80%), with the residual portion comprising moisture, extraneous substances & trace constituents. Precise composition may fluctuate based on source & refinement procedure.

Appearance: PFAD – typically a yellowish to brownish fluid at ambient temperature, with a pronounced scent owing to its elevated free fatty acid concentration.

Palm Fatty Acid Distillate (PFAD) Applications

Application in Soap&Detergent Manufacturing

PFAD for soaps & detergents – high lauric acid content augments foaming & cleansing. Prized in soap manufacturing for superior performance.

Applications in Animal Feed

PFAD for animal feed – energy-dense ingredient for poultry & livestock formulations. Supports animal nutrition & performance.

Applications in Industries

PFAD for oleochemicals – utilized in production & as a feedstock for lubricants & surfactants. Versatile raw material for industrial applications.

Applications in Biodiesel

PFAD for biodiesel – high FFA content makes it ideal for biodiesel production. FFAs converted via esterification or transesterification. Renewable fuel feedstock.

Applications in Candle Making

PFAD for candles – elevated melting point creates firm, stable candles with favorable characteristics. Quality candle production ingredient.
